The Rover- Spirit

The twin robot geoloists, the Mars Eploration Rovers, launched toward Mars on June 10 and July 7, 2003, in the search of answers about the history of the question of mars haveing water.

It landed on Mars January 24, 2004. The landing site was at Gusev Crater, a possible former lake in a giant impact crater.

Meridiani Planum, where mineral deposits suggest Mars had a wet past.

Amoung the mission's scientific goals is to search for and characterize a wide rang eof roks and soil sample on opposite sides of Mars that appear to have been affected by liquid water in the past.
